A 48-Win Streak Falls in Florida
Sophie Anne Stulce enters JJWL Florida VIII at 48-0. Kimber Sue Mings ends it. Eleven tournaments, 5,543 matches, six organizations, and four JJWL double-headers.
Sophie Anne Stulce, an orange belt from Inevat Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, enters JJWL Florida VIII Gi Youth at 48-1. The only loss on her career record came 48 wins ago. Kimber Sue Mings of Renato Tavares BJJ HQ ends the streak. It is the longest win streak broken on any weekend this season.
Eleven tournaments across six organizations produce 5,543 matches this weekend. The JJWL runs four events across two states — Florida VIII Gi and No Gi combine for 1,799 matches, Phoenix IX Gi and No Gi add another 1,266. NAGA Dallas leads all single events with 918.
Star Performances
Breaks Stulce’s 48-win streak. Three wins, two by submission, gold medal. The biggest single-result Jits gain of the weekend.
Eight wins -- six by submission, two on points. Gold medal at the Newbreed American Cup. The highest match count among undefeated fighters this weekend.
Seven wins on a 7-1 card. Four submissions and three points wins for the gold medal at the weekend’s biggest tournament.
Five of six wins by submission. Gold medal at NAGA Rhode Island with a 83% finish rate.
Kimber Sue Mings gains +2,810 Jits on just three wins — the highest per-win Jits gain of the weekend. The explanation is in the opponent: Sophie Anne Stulce enters at 48-1 with a rating that makes the win worth more than most undefeated weekends. Mings does not go the distance. She submits her.
At NAGA Dallas, Kayden Nicole Holland of Double Five Highland Village puts together a 7-1 run with four submissions in the weekend's largest field. Jordan Anthony Gallow goes one better at Newbreed American Cup — 8-0 with six submissions, the most complete individual card of the weekend.
The Deep Brackets
Six straight wins in the grey belt division. Enters as the highest-rated fighter in any deep bracket this weekend at 9,587 Jits.
Five wins in one division, four in another. Nine total wins across Gi and No Gi for the weekend’s biggest individual Jits gain.
Grappling Industries Cheyenne runs a 68% submission rate — the highest of any tournament this weekend — and produces three six-win bracket runs. Ryla Jaye Knight of Six Blades Jiu-Jitsu leads at 9,587 Jits. Maverick Juhlin of Kraken BJJ follows at 7,052. Cael Henderson of Madhouse BJJ makes it three.
Bradyn Andrew Rico of G-Bar Training Center wins nine of ten matches across multiple divisions for +5,300 Jits — the weekend's largest individual gain. The Cheyenne event accounts for eight of the top ten deep bracket runs across all eleven tournaments.
Upsets and Surprises
Hermelo beats a 6,681-Jits Checkmat Olympus fighter on points. The weekend’s widest upset by rating gap.
Guthrie loses again -- this time to a yellow belt from Gracie Barra Texas. The second straight weekend an underdog beats him.
Ortiz breaks Santos’ 25-win streak. Santos enters Florida VIII at 25-0 and leaves 25-2.
Ellis Gray Guthrie of JM Modern Jiu Jitsu 1776 loses to a lower-rated fighter for the second consecutive weekend. Last week three different opponents beat him at AGF Bossier. This week Etzio Bills of Gracie Barra Texas takes him down at AGF Houston. The 5,840-Jits grey belt has become the target every underdog wants.
The JJWL double-headers in Florida and Phoenix produce the weekend's deepest streak-breaker list. Audrey Mae Hurd Pagara (41-0) of Asenjo BJJ falls to Kinley Shea Ray at Florida VIII No Gi. Layla Louise Gathogo (30-0) of Checkmat Olympus loses at the same event. Gabriel Riccioppo Asenjo (26-0) falls at Florida VIII Gi. Four fighters with 25+ win streaks lose at JJWL events this weekend.

Looking Ahead
Stulce's 48-win streak is the longest we have seen broken this season. The JJWL four-event weekend in Florida and Phoenix accounts for 3,065 of the weekend's 5,543 matches — more than half the total from just one organization. March opens with the circuit running at full volume.
