Two 40-Win Streaks Fall at ADCC US Open
Twelve tournaments, 4,454 matches, seven organizations. A 46-0 record snaps in Las Vegas, a 42-0 follows minutes later, and a 10-0 grey belt leads AGF Memphis.
Bailey Cerda Heinsohn of Art of Jiu Jitsu enters the ADCC US Open in Las Vegas at 46-0. Malia Rose Bunyan, a 6,850-Jits yellow belt, ends it. Minutes later in the same building, Caio Rafe Sainz — 42-0, orange belt, 9,392 Jits — falls to Scotty Freeman of Atos HQ by submission. Two of the longest active win streaks in youth jiu-jitsu, gone on the same day.
Twelve tournaments across seven organizations produce 4,454 matches this weekend. The ADCC US Open leads with 1,009. Grappling Industries Minneapolis adds 560, Grappling Industries Washington State contributes 536, and NAGA Austin II runs 528 at a 56% submission rate.
Star Performances
Ten wins, zero losses, gold medal. Seven submissions and three points victories. The highest match volume among all MVPs this weekend.
Ends Caio Rafe Sainz’s 42-win streak by submission, then finishes the tournament 3-0 with two submissions and a points win.
Five wins, four by submission, gold medal. Runs through a 528-match field without dropping a single bout.
Gold medal on four consecutive submissions. Does not let a single match go to the judges.
The weekend belongs to Owen Lane Winslett. Ten wins at AGF Memphis — seven by submission, three on points — and a gold medal. That is the kind of day most competitors build an entire season toward. Winslett does it on one Saturday afternoon.
At the ADCC US Open, Scotty Freeman enters as a relative unknown. He leaves as the fighter who ended a 42-win streak. His submission of Caio Rafe Sainz — who carried a 9,392-Jits rating and an orange belt from Sainz Team Alpha Miami — is the kind of result that reshapes a competitive bracket overnight.
The Deep Brackets
The Grappling Industries round-robin format produces the weekend's deepest brackets. At GI Washington State, Eli Iraheta of Team Wise wins six straight in the Gi Kids white belt 6-7 year old division at 5,893 Jits. Evelyn Kim Nguyen of Underground BJJ matches the feat twice — six wins in Gi and six wins in No Gi at the same tournament, both in the 8-9 grey belt bracket.
At GI Connecticut, Gabriel Morais Ferreira of Kairos Jiu Jitsu runs through six opponents in the Gi Kids grey belt division. His 10,906-Jits rating — the highest of any deep bracket winner this weekend — explains why. Over at GI Minneapolis, Max Thao of Spartan Martial Arts grinds through five in the No Gi Kids 10-11 division.
Upsets and Surprises
Young submits his own teammate -- a 4,790-Jits orange belt -- at the ADCC US Open in Las Vegas. Same academy, 3,370-Jits gap.
Freeman catches Sainz by submission to break the 42-win streak. Two fighters submit him in one tournament after 42 straight wins.
A blue belt submits a purple belt at AGF Kansas City. Allen finishes the weekend 2-1 with a gold medal and +1,920 Jits.
Michel catches Clarke -- a 4,714-Jits grey belt from All American MMA -- by submission in the No Gi Kids Intermediate 10-11 bracket.
The ADCC US Open turns into a streak-breaking factory. Beyond Heinsohn (46-0) and Sainz (42-0), Anabella Lamardo Junco sees her 28-win run ended by Zoe Freeman, an 8,470-Jits green belt. Hayzon Leopoldo of Morumbi Academy drops his 18-win streak to Hayk Mkrtchyan, who enters at just 1,343 Jits.
Elsewhere, Ricky Ruhland II sees his 23-0 career record broken by Joshua Vizcarrondo at the PBJJF Raleigh Summer Open. Judah Kohnen falls at 19-0 to Samuel Olson — rated at just 1,478 Jits — at Grappling Industries Minneapolis. Six streaks of 18 or longer fall across four tournaments in one weekend.

Looking Ahead
The ADCC US Open proved that no streak is safe when the national stage raises the stakes. With two 40-win records broken in one building, every undefeated fighter on the circuit just got a reminder: the deeper the bracket, the harder the path. Next weekend's results will tell us whether this was an outlier or the new normal.
