AOJ pulled ahead of Gracie Barra for the team title at the San Jose Winter Kids International Open, claiming 24 gold medals to Gracie Barra's 20 in Northern California's premier IBJJF youth event of the winter season. The 160 gold medals were spread across a deep field that included several prominent West Coast programs.
Three academies tied for third at 8 golds each — One Jiu-Jitsu USA, Alliance, and Kola Ajose Jiu-Jitsu Academy — creating a competitive mid-table that few other IBJJF kids events can match. Baza, Honor Roll BJJ, Ares BJJ, Lansang Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and Atos Jiu-Jitsu all collected 6 golds, while Aspire To Inspire and Brasa Caio Terra added 4 each.
The depth of California's youth scene was on full display: more than 20 academies placed at least one gold medalist, and no single program dominated any belt or age group. San Jose has evolved into one of IBJJF's most competitive West Coast stops for the kids division.
