Rating System
Understanding Your Jits Rating
Every match counts. Your Jits Rating is powered by a proprietary engine purpose-built for BJJ competition — one number that captures your true competitive level across every tracked tournament.
How It Works
Every Match Counts
Win or lose, every tracked competition match updates your rating. The system weighs opponent strength, so beating a higher-rated fighter gives you a bigger boost.
Purpose-Built Engine
A proprietary rating system designed from the ground up for combat sports. It models opponent strength, match context, rating confidence, and competition frequency.
Cross-Organization
Your rating combines results from JJWL, IBJJF, NAGA, AGF, Grappling Industries, and more into one unified score.
The Tier Ladder
The best in the country. Fewer than 10 fighters at any time. Dominant across premier organizations.
Dominant competitors with proven records against quality opposition across multiple organizations.
Strong competitors who consistently win against quality opponents.
Consistent winners with meaningful competitive records.
Active competitors with winning records.
Building a competitive record through regular competition.
First tournaments. Every match builds the rating foundation.
Not enough competitive data to establish a rating. Compete to get ranked.
How to Reach the Next Tier
Rating Confidence
Not all ratings carry the same weight. A fighter with 30 matches has a far more reliable rating than someone with 2. Our system tracks this internally and communicates it simply: if the rating is trustworthy, you see nothing. If it's still finding its level, we tell you.
This fighter has competed extensively and their rating has fully converged. The number you see is a reliable measure of their competitive level.
On the profile: Nothing — the rating speaks for itself. No labels, no warnings. A clean number means a trustworthy number.
The rating is stable but may shift slightly with new results. Most active competitors fall here — enough data to be meaningful, with room to refine.
On the profile: Nothing — the rating is reliable enough that no disclaimer is needed.
The system is still learning where this fighter belongs. They have some match history but not enough for full confidence. Expect the rating to move significantly after each competition.
On the profile: A subtle note below the rating: "Early rating — expect changes with more matches."
Very few matches in the system. The rating is a rough starting point based on limited data. It will change substantially as more results come in.
On the profile: A note below the rating: "Provisional — based on very few matches." The rating appears slightly muted.
